Creating 'New' photo galleries

Create an article to hold the gallery
Open NCS Content and create a new 'Article'
Assign category to article
Assign the category of WEB PhotoGalleries NEW to the article.


Fill in the meta data in the 'General' tab
- Slug the story in tghe 'Name' field
- Pick the publiocation date
- Ensure the category is WEB PhotoGalleries NEW
- Ensure author field is filled in correctly
- When all that's done, click on the 'Web' tab ...

Add Web metadata
- Add relevant taxonomies, including placement taxonomies (i.e. -- 'Gallery - News', 'Gallery - Sports)
- Make sure 'Comments' is unchecked
- Make sure the Paywall setting is 'Premium Content'
- And, most importantly, select Article design class of F Photo Gallery ... NEXT >>

Save it ...
- Click 'Save and Open'

Add article elements
- Add a headline
- Add a net header (can be the same as 'headline', but both are required)
- A short summary is needed (our on-site search uses the summary field in its search results)
- A byline, in the format 'By Photographer Name'
- And, finally, something in the story body. This can simply be a repeat of the summary, but it should be a short summary of what the gallery is about.

Example of a filled-out story
This shows what your finished article elements editor screen should look like. You can now save and close it.

Add the images
- Find your newly-created article in the 'Articles' window and highlight it.
- Find the images in the 'Pictures' window and select those you wish to use.

Drag the images to the story
Drag those selected images to the story while holding the control (Ctrl) key. That copies both image and its caption tot he story.

Check captions
- Order your iimages in their desired order, then select each image and double-check the captions. NOTE that the first image in each gallery MUST be in landscape/hortizontal orientation.

- Right-click on the first image and select 'Show Cropping Panel ...'

- Select the crop labeled '4x3' and move the image around til the crop looks OK; the click 'Apply'

Publish
- Highlight the story in the Article window and click 'Publish'. You are done!

- In the 'Article' window, find the story you would like to link your gallery to.

- In a different window within the workbench, temporarily change the type of content from whatever it currently is to 'Article'; the reult is you'll have 2 open windows, close to each other in the workbench, listing articles.

- Find the Gallery in the second article window, click it and drag it atop the article in the other open 'Article' window. This links them to each other.
- Publish (or republish) the article. After re-caching, you should see a link to the gallery appear on the parent article's read page, and a link to the story on the gallery's page.

The gallery will now be listed as an asset of its parent story; if you need to make edits or corrections on the gallery note that you will need to find the parent story and open and edit the gallery there.
